Ganslmeier
Ganselmeier et al’s 2014 study “Regional adjustment of thyroid hormone reference intervals” was conducted to establish regional reference ranges for thyreotropin (TSH) and the thyroid hormones free triiodthyronine (fT3) and free thyroxine (fT4). They investigated 292 apparently healthy individuals and found calculated reference values for TSH was 0.58–3.49 mIU/L and fT4 was 11.58–20.46 pmol/L. Statistically remarkable is the finding of a normal Gaussian distribution of the fT3 serum concentration, with a reference interval of 3.56–5.88 pmol/L.
